Student Testimonials
“Throughout the conference, I was highly involved in young professional gatherings and events. I believe I developed lasting relationships with students from different agencies, more precisely with students from JAXA, KARI, from the CNES and the ESA. Furthermore, I made the most out of the different ISEB and IAC receptions, where I initiated contacts with people with great knowledge in different STEM fields.” Charles-Frédérick Gauthier, Canada
“Overall, I had an extremely positive experience at the 2019 IAC and ISEB program. The opportunity to present my Master’s thesis work at the largest astronautical conference in the world was a great way to gain exposure to the research work I am conducting and to gain useful feedback that I can take into the next steps of my academic and professional career. Additionally, as I am moving onto the next steps of my academic career into a PhD program, the exposure to the vast amount of different research related to space was a great way to explore my interests.”Kelsey Doerksen, Canada
"I was able to talk with top-level students from around the world, as well as space agency heads and astronauts from various countries. This was enough to make me happy, but what made me even happier than anything was among the ISEB participants I could meet students who were working on the same as my niche research area, Origami Engineering in the space field, and I was able to have in-depth discussions with them about their research. I will keep in touch with them to discuss my research. The ISEB program made my week at the IAC very meaningful and productive."Sho Tamura, Japan
"The ISEB program has given me a lot of experiences and lessons learned. I was able to attend the 70th IAC, the biggest space conference in the world. I served as the leader of the JAXA-dispatched students from the preparation stage, although there were some flaws in my role as a leader, I was able to overcome them with the support of the ISEB members. This program allows me to do outreach through space education which I want to do in the future. I was expecting to meet a variety of people from a wide range of backgrounds, but the experience has exceeded my expectations."Takuya Inoue, Japan
"Presenting a paper at the 70th IAC in Washington D.C., I had the chance to discuss the most recent common research with leading experts and initiate several new-found prospects of collaboration. Participation in the ISEB programme as an ESA-sponsored student gave us the unique opportunity to meet heads of space agencies, astronauts, senior NASA and ESA staff, as well as interact with fellow students from the other ISEB member agencies. The experiences provided by the ISEB and ESA sponsorship programme nurtured my professional development and left me with a renewed perspective on this extraordinary industry.” Shaun Andrews, UK
“ISEB 2019 is the unique opportunity every student involved in the space field is looking for. Thanks to ISEB I had the chance to join the IAC 2019 and to dive into an international and fresh environment. I received valuable technical feedback from experts and, most importantly, I felt part of the ESA family and the global space community. ISEB 2019 taught me that sharing ideas and experiences is the key to a fulfilling life from both the personal and professional viewpoint."Riccardo Bisin, Italy
