The Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC) is a State funded Maths and Science Centre of Excellence in Victoria, Australia that offers programs to primary and secondary level students leveraging the context of space to engage. These programs support dedicated and cross-curricular domains, highlighting career and study paths for students. They are delivered within context, many of which are built using scenario-based learning, by post-secondary students studying across a multitude of disciplines. It is our intention to spark a curiosity and desire for these students, their teachers, and the greater teaching profession to participate actively in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. We want to empower their choice to study and work in these fields, leading towards an enriched life and career.
VSSEC applies the latest educational research to develop effective programs for both students and teachers. To maintain the highest level of excellence in both pedagogy and science content, the Centre’s Advisory Board is drawn from academia, education and government. We operate on behalf of the Australian Space Agency by representing Australia’s educational interests in the space sector through ISEB.
We offer online resources for teachers, as well as teacher professional development opportunities at the centre. If you have any specific requests or would like to discuss what we can offer you and your school, please contact us through our website: VSSEC Teaching and Learning
